Version 2.79 April 1, 2013 If you can receive ADS-B information, USAPhotoMaps can show a plane's ID, location, altitude, ground speed, and track in real time. (Menu -Approach Control -ADS-B) I bought a NooElec R820T RTL SDR USB receiver for about $20. It receives ADS-B signals at 1090 mHz thru its small antenna, and plugs into a computer's USB port. I downloaded a couple of free ADS-B decoders, RTL1090 and ADSB#. They read receiver data, and send the data in usable format out a port to any program listening to that port (like USAPhotoMaps). Go to planefinder.net to see what ADS-B signals can show with a LOT of ADS-B receivers feeding it data. Or go to flightradar24.com to see what info ATC (Air Traffic Control) gets from airplanes. By 2020, all info available to ATC will be required to be available to anyone.
