The "Galaxy Vintage D" Steinway Grand Piano is well worth its $155 price. It's a beautiful sounding piano. __________ INSTALLING Install both the Galaxy Vintage D and the Kontakt Player (which comes with it). Be prepared for this to take up to an hour. Then run the Kontakt Player. To hear the Galaxay Vintage D sounds, you always have to load those sounds either through Browse or Files (on the top menu). Then play a note on the keyboard (made visible on the top menu). Don't change any default setting in Kontakt, because they're optimal (although I had an initial strange problem with an apparent stuck sustain pedal (where none existed), which went away somehow after my doing something). You'll probably have to make some changes in Options to get a good sound (or any sound). I have the free and excellent ASIO4ALL installed on my computer, so the Kontakt Player selected that as the Audio Device. You can, and should, download it from the Internet. I have a Realtek sound card in my laptop (Windows XP, 1.6 gHz, 5400 rpm hard drive), as well as a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi HD USB sound card, so I had to de-select Realtek and select USB Sound Blaster HD. A good sound calls for a good sound card (and good headphones/speakers (I use Grado RS-2 headphones)). Activate the Galaxy Vintage D library (as well as the Kontakt Player) by pressing the Activate button in the Kontakt Player. You'll probably find that you have to update both. Do it because any updates are an improvement (and wait up to another hour). ____________________________________________________ Playing Galaxy Vintage D sounds in PianoRollComposer You'll need to download and install the free LoopBe MIDI Driver program to link PianoRollComposer to the Kontakt Player. In the PianoRollComposer menu: MIDI Input cannot be LoopBe Internal MIDI MIDI Output must be LoopBe Internal MIDI In the Kontakt Player Options, select MIDI Inputs, and click on the "Off" under LoopBe Internal MIDI Status. Change the Off to Port A (or another Port). Now the Kontakt Player is linked thru LoopBe to PianoRollComposer, and whatever you play in PianoRollComposer will be sent as simple MIDI note information to the Kontakt Player, which will synthesize and play it using the Galaxy Vintage D sound library. If you have a MIDI keyboard connected to your computer, you can play it thru PianoRollComposer (or Kontakt) and hear an excellent Steinway Concert Grand piano. If you want to record something using the Galaxy piano sound, download VSTHost (free, on the Internet). 1.Run PianoRollComposer with LoopBe as MIDI Output. 2.Run VSTHost. 3.In Devices, select LoopBe as MIDI Input, and select ASIO4ALL as Wave Output (preferably). FIRST TIME ONLY 4.In Files -New Plugin, select Kontakt4.dll, which will probably have been downloaded to the Native Instruments VST folder. FIRST TIME ONLY 5.Load the Galaxy piano sound in Kontakt. 6.Play something in PianoRollComposer, and press the Record button in VSTHost.
